A Tariff, simply put, is a tax levied on an imported good. There are 5000 tariff codes under 99 chapters in the World Customs Organisation harmonised system (HS). That means there is a code for the goods you are trading in. When you’re importing or exporting, knowing the correct HS code will help you to understand exactly what duties, excise, or obligations you will face. Remember that this is a legal requirement for your transaction and accuracy for all the products you import or export will be needed specific to the market you’re exporting to.
